NSS Unit of VKIDFT has organized a one day nature camp in Chimmony Wildlife Sanctuary, Thrissur on 6th July 2022. The camp was sponsored by Kerala Forest and wildlife Department and Chimmony Wildlife Sanctuary. A total of 40 students from B. Tech Dairy Technology and B. Tech Food Technology 2021 batch has participated in the camp. One of our faculty, Vinod sir accompanied us. The sanctuary was located about 40 km from our college. We started our journey at 7.00 am .Within an hour reached the destination. The forest guides gave an introduction about the treking. After breakfast started the hike from the base station. It was of moderate level trecking through evergreen forest patches and lakeside, searching for wildlife,birds etc ; enjoying the landscape of the sanctuary. Returned to base station for lunch. After the lunch there was an awareness class.The class was all about the amazing and wonderful facts about nature and wild life. After the session we walked to visit Chimmony dam. Returned from the sanctuary and reached college by 7.00 pm. The camp provided a first hand experience for us to know the wild and it made us aware of the rising need of preserving nature and conserving natural resources.
